Weekend warm-up on the way for central Indiana
Thursday, May 22, 2014 4:58 PM EDT
By Chuck Lofton, SkyTrak meteorologist -
Last night's storms have moved out of central Indiana and beautiful weather is on the way for the next several days - including Indianapolis 500 race day.
Many towns last night received more than an one inch of rain and winds exceeded 50 miles per hour during the storms in several towns, including downtown Indianapolis.
Look for highs to slowly warm into the holiday weekend, which means great conditions for Carb Day, the 500 Festival Parade and the Indy 500.
Memorial Day looks muggy but without thunderstorms. At this point, we'll hold off chances for rain until Tuesday, making this one of the best Memorial Day weekends in memory.
ON THIS DAY IN CENTRAL INDIANA WEATHER HISTORY:
1991- Severe storms caused wind damage and some flooding in many towns.
