BREAKING: Accident involving semi closes SR 37 in Elwood

ELWOOD, Ind. -

State Road 37 at 900 North in Elwood is closed after an accident involving a semi and car. 

Madison County officials say a semi with a tanker collided with a passenger car going in the opposite direction.  The passenger car came to a stop on it's top and caught fire.

Several public safety crews had to extricate the driver from the car.

A medical helicopter was also called to the scene but officials could not elaborate on the condition or number of people injured.

Officials say there is also a small Haz Mat spill.

The accident happened around 4 a.m. on the west side of Madison County.
