Indiana basketball gets perfect score in classroom

INDIANAPOLIS -

Indiana's men's basketball team earned a fourth straight perfect score and a second straight public recognition award from the NCAA based on academics.

Six teams on the Bloomington campus received the recognition award, which goes to all teams finishing in the top 10 percent on the annual Academic Progress Rate report and all schools finishing with a perfect 1,000.

The APR is billed as a real-time measurement of academic success. Each player on a team receives one point each semester they are academically eligible and another point each semester they remain enrolled in school. The most recent data, released Wednesday, covers the academic years from 2009-10 to 2012-13.

Notre Dame had 13 teams publicly recognized, Butler had six and Purdue had one. Eight Ball State teams scored 990 or better.
