VINCENNES, Ind. -

The foundation that maintains the Vincennes home of William Henry Harrison when he was governor of the Indiana territory has received a grant toward funding a report on its restoration.

The Jeffris Family Foundation has awarded a $32,000 grant to the Grouseland Foundation. That covers half of the cost of the report that will provide guidelines on preserving the home.

Foundation President Jim Corridon tells WZDM-FM the report will be the first one completed for Grouseland. The foundation already has committed $17,000 in matching funds and has six months to raise an additional $15,000.

Grouseland, a National Historic Landmark said to be the first brick home in Indiana, not only was home to the future president and his family but also was the center of government for the Indiana Territory.
