Today at Victory Field, the ballpark became a classroom for hundreds of central Indiana students.
For four days every spring at Victory Field, elementary school students get to enjoy an Indians game while still learning. The Baseball in Education program works with local schools to incorporate baseball into the lesson plan during the year. Then the students get to go to the stadium to complete the lesson.
"We can do all kinds of language arts, social studies, math activities, anything you can think of - whole units around baseball," said 6th grade teacher Beverly Trimbur.
The kids love the change of scenery, and the Indians told Eyewitness News the Baseball in Education games are among the loudest, highest energy days in the ballpark.
