A Taylorsville boy suffered minor injuries after crashing his mother's car Friday morning.
Police say the 11-year-old boy didn't want to ride the bus to school, so he took his mother's car, but crashed it before reaching his destination.
The Bartholomew County sheriff says an officer saw the vehicle and the young driver shortly after the boy left his home. The boy panicked when he saw the officer, lost control and veered off the roadway. The car struck utility boxes and a tree in a neighborhood not far from his school.
The child was referred to the county's juvenile authority.
