INDIANAPOLIS -

SOUTH SIDE BEATING:

A man is in the hospital in very serious condition. Police say he was lured to a home on Tindall Street just off of East Gimber Street, to meet someone. When he got there, several people jumped him and beat him. Officers arrived and took a couple of people in for questioning, no word yet on any official arrests.

JOBS ANNOUNCEMENT:

A major jobs announcement is expected to be made this afternoon. Indianapolis-based Interactive Intelligence Group will announce plans that could involved hundreds of new jobs. It's the latest large addition of jobs for Indiana. Yesterday Jasper Engines and Transmission announced it will expand its operation in Southwest Indiana creating up to 235 new jobs by 2017.

DPW FUNDING VOTE:

More potholes could soon get filled and streets re-paved if the Department of Public Works gets its way tonight. A city-county council committee votes tonight on whether to approve more than $15 million in funding to help the cash-strapped agency get back on track.

COLD MORNING:

It is cold out there this morning and it will remain chilly all day today. An upper level trough and cold air aloft will keep sky conditions mainly cloudy today and Friday, with a few showers around. Look for cool conditions in the mid-40s at the start of the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon Saturday morning. As the sun breaks out, temps will warm into the upper 60s later in the day.

MINI MARATHON PREPS:

Thousands of runners are getting ready for the Mini-Marathon on Saturday. Today is the first day to pick up race packets. The Mini Marathon Expo starts later today at the Convention Center. So anyone who is running or walking can stop by and pick up their numbers, get a t-shirt, and lots of other coupons and goodies. More than 80 vendors will be at the Expo to show off the latest running gear and health information. And it's open to everyone, not just those participating in the marathon. The Expo is open today from 4AM to 8PM and tomorrow from 10AM to 9PM at the Indiana Convention Center. And be sure to watch Eyewitness News Weekend Sunrise this Saturday for all the Mini Marathon festivities.
