The Indiana Ice rebounded from an early Dubuque goal to win the opening game of the USHL Eastern Conference finals.
Robby Darrar got the Fighting Saints on the board first, just 1:49 into the game, but Jason Pawloski closed the door the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win.
Jacob Prichard and Scott Conway scored power play goals to give Indiana the lead and Brian Pinho and Denis Smirnov finished the scoring for the Ice.
“After their first goal, I just had to shake it off,” stated Pawolski. “We played great and we were keeping shots to a minimum.”
The teams play Game 2 Saturday at Pan Am Pavilion. The puck drops at 7:05 pm.
