A portion of U.S. 24 near Fort Wayne will be named after the longest-serving female state representative in Indiana's history.
The section from U.S. 24 east of New Haven to the Ohio state line is set to be named the Phyllis J. Pond Memorial Highway.
A ceremony to unveil one of the new memorial signs is scheduled for Tuesday.
Lawmakers voted this year to name the highway after Pond, a Republican who has served 35 years in the House when she died in September 2013.
The representative advocated for the now-complete U.S. 24-Fort to Port Highway project to improve access and safety of the roadway.
Pond was first elected to in the House in 1978.
