INDIANAPOLIS -

Police are searching for a flasher who even surprised a north Indianapolis woman asleep in her bedroom.

Police are warning women after several reports of indecent exposure at the Cambridge Square Apartments, near 71st Street and Township Line Road. In most cases, the victims say the man exposing himself has taken advantage of their open patio doors and that has left them with mixed emotions about their safety.

"Insecure. I feel violated and not violated," said Karen Pierson.

Pierson is working to keep herself safe after a man exposing himself got just a little bit too close for comfort.

"He was on the edge of my patio coming toward me and I shook my head at him like, 'No!' So he turned around and walked away," she said.

At that time, she thought she was clear of any present danger.

"Then, all of a sudden, I look out again and he is where he is, standing and looking at me, pants unzipped," Pierson said.

The flasher ran away.

But here's the clincher. Pierson's next door neighbor woke up at 8 p.m. last Saturday to the same man inside her apartment exposing himself. She told police he got in through the patio door.

That caused Pierson to take up a spear, in case he comes back.

"It has those two little tips on the end and I made sure I made them to a nice point. They really don't have to be sharp, because if you use enough force, it will go through," she said.

Now after at least three attacks at her apartment complex, Pierson is also armed with her own binoculars to be on the lookout for the flasher.

"They have a great zoom on them, to where you can really see," she said.

The victims have been told if they see the same man on the property to call 911 immediately.
