Casey Sadler allowed one run over six innings and Brent Morel drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning to give Indianapolis a 2-1 win over Columbus in the opening game for both teams.
Sadler allowed four hits and struck out three Clippers batters, including the first seven he faced to start the game. Jared Hughes got the win for the Indians, striking out three over two innings.
Hague led off the top of the 10th with a double to center field, followed on the next pitch by a single from Morel to give Indianapolis the lead. It was the first season-opening win for the Indians since the 2007 season.
The Indians and Clippers are back at it at 3:05 p.m. Saturday in Columbus.
