Police identify person fatally shot in east Indianapolis home

Police have released the name of a man killed on Friday night.  They say Joshua Luecking, 39, Indianapolis, died after being shot on the east side of Indianapolis.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Ewing Street, near 10th and Sherman. When police arrived, they found a man inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses to try to determine a motive for the shooting. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Police have not released a description of any possible suspects, but they did confirm Saturday afternoon that they believe the suspect and victim knew each other.
