Brisk start to a bright weekend

Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

It's been an impressively wet start to the month April.  Only four days deep and Indianapolis is only 1.31″ below the monthly average rainfall.  You can definitely feel the difference in air behind the passage of a cold front from earlier today.  Temperatures are a good 15 to 20 degrees colder and the gusty wind makes it "feel" like the upper 20s to lower 30s.

Some locations have already eclipsed the nearly 4″ monthly average, which is why Flood Warnings continue at this hour.  We'll be rain-free until Monday, but the trade off will brisk conditions this evening and a chilly night ahead.  You can definitely feel the difference in air behind the passage of a cold front from earlier today.  Temperatures are a good 15 to 20 degrees colder and the gusty wind makes it "feel" like the mid to upper 20s.

WINDGUST LOWS

Clouds departing tonight will take away our "insulator" and allow overnight lows to drop to near 30 degrees by sunrise Saturday.  Thankfully we'll see plenty of sun tomorrow and most of the weekend… and with a calmer wind too.

DAYPART Highs

After the cold start, highs jump into the lower 50s Saturday and near 60 Sunday.  We're recommending you take care of any yard work or outdoor plans this weekend, with a wet/windy day setting up Monday.

A strengthening low pressure system from the south brings widespread rain, windy conditions and keeps temperatures in the 40s Monday.

This system quickly departs and the focus shifts to potentially our warmest air the year later next week… as highs make a run at 70 degrees and higher next Thursday.
