Westfield man dies following Noblesville crash

A Westfield man has died from injuries sustained when the car he was riding in struck a tree in Noblesville on Wednesday afternoon.

The man was identified as Joseph J. Harris, 22, of Westfield.

It happened at 1625 Field Drive, which is the address of the Noblesville freshman campus. A medical helicopter was requested.

Police say a 2002 Jeep Cherokee was westbound on Field Drive when the driver left the roadway and collided head-on with a tree on the north side of the road.

The driver was taken by ambulance to IU Health Methodist Hospital in serious condition. The passenger was transported by ambulance to Riverview Health in Noblesville and later by air ambulance to I.U. Health Methodist Hospital, also in serious condition. He later died from his injuries.

Accident reconstructionists from the Noblesville Police Department and Hamilton County Sheriff's Department are investigating the crash.

 

 

 

 

 

The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old woman, is recovering from her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
