INDIANAPOLIS -

Indiana's girls' high school basketball tournament is returning to Indianapolis.

The IHSAA Executive Committee unanimously approved a one-year agreement with Bankers Life Fieldhouse Friday morning. The four girls' state championship games will be played Saturday, March 7, 2015.

Due to scheduling conflicts with the Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament, the girls' championship has been played at several different venues over the last six years. The games were played at Lucas Oil Stadium in 2009, in Fort Wayne in 2010-11 and have taken place at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute the last three years.

"The IHSAA is extremely pleased that the girls basketball state finals will return to Indianapolis and Bankers Life Fieldhouse next year," said IHSAA Commissioner Bobby Cox. "At the same time, we are very appreciative and grateful for the time and effort that our hosts in Terre Haute have put forth to make the events memorable for the participating schools and fans involved."

The IHSAA Board of Directors will also weigh a proposal to move the entire girls' basketball season up by one week starting in 2015-16. The move would eliminate the overlap between the girls' championship games and the boys' sectional tournament. The proposal will be discussed at the May 5 meeting.
