Purdue coach Matt Painter is about to get a chance to rebuild.
Four seniors are graduating. Sophomore Ronnie Johnson has announced he's transferring. Jay Simpson's career ended when doctors diagnosed him with a heart problem.
That leaves Painter with only five scholarship players on the roster - presuming there are no more defections from a team that finished tied for last in the Big Ten.
What is clear is that Painter expects better results, more consistency and a stronger sense of unity on the next team he puts together.
