Irish find themselves overshadowed by UConn again

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -

Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw concedes it's annoying being known as the other undefeated team.

The Fighting Irish (32-0) just completed the best regular season in school history, setting a school record for consecutive wins, and are one of only 13 teams to enter the NCAA tournament undefeated. Yet the Irish find themselves overshadowed by No. 1 Connecticut (34-0), a former conference rival.

Guard Kayla McBride says she believes that will provide extra motivation for the Irish. But she thinks the Irish are always going to be the underdog when it comes to Connecticut, even though Notre Dame has won seven of the last nine meetings.

The Irish open the tournament Saturday against Robert Morris (21-11) in Toledo, Ohio.
