Colts punter Pat McAfee announced Friday morning that he and the team have agreed on a five-year contract.
McAfee made the announcement while appearing on the television show NFL AM. The Colts confirmed the agreement in a media release, but did not disclose terms of the deal.
McAfee was designated as the team's franchise player last season and was due to become an unrestricted free agent next week.
Last season, McAfee punted 76 times for 3,499 yards for a 46 yard average (38.5 net) and set a franchise single-season record with 27 punts downed inside the opponent's 20-yard line, breaking his previous record of 26 in 2012.
He also set a single-game Colts franchise record with six punts pinned inside the 20 in Week 7 against Denver.
In two postseason games, he punted six times for a 51.7 yard average (44.7 net).
