Library system takes feedback on moving or closing branches

Updated:

The Indianapolis Public Library is holding a series of public meetings this week to talk about the future of the library.

Last month, the library released a plan to open new branches, and move or close locations when their building leases are up. For people who live in the Fountain Square neighborhood, this is a worrisome possibility.

"Having lots of library branches is great," said Kelly Weger. "However, having a community library branch is critical because a lot of people don't have access to cars, they prefer to walk and bike and bus, or maybe that's their only option."

There's another meeting set for Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 at the InfoZone branch in the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
