Officers from the Indiana State Excise Police and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department executed a search warrant early Sunday morning at Sabor Bohemio located at 4002 East Washington Street, leading to the arrest of five individuals and the premise being cited for prostitution and drug related offenses.
IMPD's Vice unit arrested four females and booked them into the Marion County Jail on preliminary felony charges that included Dealing Cocaine, Dealing in a Controlled Substance, Prostitution, and Promoting Prostitution.
A male subject was also jailed on a preliminary Class D Felony charge of Possession of Cocaine.
Excise officers issued preliminary administrative violations to Sabor Bohemio and its owner, Zeferano Alvarez, 50, of Indianapolis, for Maintaining a Public Nuisance: Drugs, Maintaining a Public Nuisance: Sex Acts, Public Nudity, and Violating the Scope of Their Alcoholic Beverage Permit.
The administrative charges issued to the premise and Mr. Alvarez will be heard in front of the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission at a later date.
Indiana State Excise Police Superintendent Matt Strittmatter said, "The Indiana State Excise Police will continue to collaborate with IMPD to identify alcoholic beverage permit locations that present a public nuisance. Once an establishment is suspected of being a problem location, Excise officers will conduct an investigation and the appropriate administrative enforcement action will be taken on any violations that are discovered."
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
