INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA -

Fire investigators say careless smoking caused a fire that displaced two families.

The Wayne Township Fire Department says no one was injured in the fire at a duplex in the 3200 block of Tansel Road.  Fire detectors alerted the residents to a fire in the garage.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 1:14 a.m.   It took crews about 20 minutes to get the blaze under control.

Two cats died in the fire, but 2 more cats and a dog did escape.

Investigators estimate the fire caused about $150,000 in damage.
