Jimmy Fallon makes his Tonight Show debut

NEW YORK CITY -

Jimmy Fallon made his debut as The Tonight Show host Monday night, with guests Will Smith and U2.

The Tonight Show is now back in New York City, with a new set in studio 6B -- the same studio where Jack Paar and Johnny Carson once hosted the show.

Jimmy Fallon brought his band The Roots, and his sidekick Steve Higgins, with him to The Tonight Show.

Fallon began the show by reflecting on his past and thanking the previous Tonight Show hosts. He then moved on to his monologue, poking fun at the Sochi Olympic Games. He joked about NBC's Bob Costas and his now famous eye infection.

"You could tell he was having trouble when he spent a half hour interviewing a mop he thought was Shaun White," said Fallon.

Will Smith and Fallon performed the classic "Evolution of Dance" skit and U2 put on a show on the roof of 30 Rock, singing their hit song "Invisible."

Tuesday night, Fallon will host Kristin Wiig, Jerry Seinfeld and musical guest Lady Gaga. The Tonight Show starts right after Eyewitness News Nightbeat.
