More disappointment for the US and a first for China in women's speedskating at the Winter Olympics in Sochi Thursday.

Zhang posted a remarkable time of 1 minute, 14.02 seconds, breaking the track record and just missing the Olympic mark set by Chris Witty at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.
The Dutch ran their Sochi speedskating medal haul to 12. Ireen Wust took the silver and Margot Boer the bronze.
The United States has yet to win a medal in five long-track events in Sochi.
