Murder suspect arrested after northwest Indianapolis chase

Police apprehended a murder suspect after a high-speed pursuit on the northwest side of Indianapolis.

Detectives had the suspect under surveillance and requested officers to make a traffic stop on the suspect's vehicle. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspect's vehicle near W. 86th Street and Michigan Road around 10 p.m. Wednesday when the driver of the vehicle accelerated. The pursuit continued west on 86th Street at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

The suspect lost control of the vehicle near Lafayette Road and crashed into a grove of trees. Officers pursued the suspect on foot through the trees and were eventually able to make an arrest after finding the man hiding under a house.

The unidentified suspect is believed to be a suspect in a 2012 homicide on North Capitol Avenue in Indianapolis, according to police.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Residents in the area were told to stay indoors and lock doors while police searched for the suspect.
