Rescue crews set out to save a dog found dying in a snow bank, but soon found it was worse than they thought.

They thought the animal was suffering from exposure the sub-zero temperatures, but soon realized someone had shot the dog twice.

The Muncie Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) has taken over the dog's care and are still assessing whether he will need surgery.

More information about the dog, which shelter workers have nicknamed "Red Ryder," can be found at MuncieARF.com.
