INDIANAPOLIS -

As family and friends of murdered pizza delivery worker Daniel Jaffke prepare final goodbyes, his parents have a message for his killer.

Someone shot and killed Jaffke a week ago during a delivery at Capitol Place Apartments on the south side of Indianapolis.

"It feels that I wasn't there when he was dying. I wasn't there to hold his hand," said Donna Jaffke, Daniel's mother.

"This is just cold-blooded murder. That's all it is. I am not going to mince words with it, it's just cold-blooded," said the victim's father, Tom Jaffke.

Police say Jaffke had just delivered a pizza to a customer in the apartment complex when at least one suspect stole his black Jeep Cherokee. The 30-year-old delivery driver was fatally shot during the incident.

"He is just a special person. He is a talented musician. He is a hard worker. He worked a job as a machinist and also the part-time job to make ends meet delivering pizzas, which cost him his life and it shouldn't have," his mother said.

"He said, 'Dad, what should I do? I like doing the pizza thing. I enjoy it," Tom Jaffke said. "He was a musician also. He had a God-given gift for music.

Donna Jaffke says her son played the saxophone, various guitars, drums and keyboards, among other instruments.

The suspect in Daniel Jaffke's murder has not yet been caught.

"I want to thank everybody out there that have done what they have done for us and for Daniel," Tom Jaffke said. "To have someone shoot your son for a little bit of pizza money. Just killed him. I mean, killed him."

"For us to have all this support from all these people. Bless Daniel's heart for making all these friends," Donna said. "So many broken hearts, it's just...it's infuriating."

Police say anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 317-262-TIPS.

"I want this person to know that they have brought our family together and we are stronger now than we have ever been and we are ready to fight, so they better watch out," Donna said.
