Teen critical after shooting at party

Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA -

Indianapolis Metro Police say a juvenile was shot at a house on the northwest side overnight.

Police got the call just before midnight.  When they arrived at the house in the 3400 block of Aylesford Lane, they found a 13-year-old boy who had been shot.  The teen was taken to Riley Hospital.

Detectives believe there was a house party at that location with a large amount of juveniles. At some point earlier in the evening, there was a disturbance at the party and some of the juveniles were forced to leave. As the juveniles were leaving, police say someone outside fired shots at the house. At least one of those shots went into the house and stuck the 13-year-old.

"I was watching a movie with my girlfriend and heard about maybe ten shots," said neighbor Christian Howard.

At first, he said couldn't believe what he heard.

"I suspected it to be fireworks at first because it's a fine neighborhood, but then when it started repeating one after the other, I looked out the window and saw people fleeing and I was like that must be gunshots," Howard said.

He says a party had been going on at a home in the 3400 block of Aylesford Lane all night.

The gathering took a violent turn just before midnight.

"Having two daughters, it's scary, you have to be careful with the parties and who comes to your house," said Ricardo Reyes, who will soon move to the area with his family.

They say they're not alarmed.

"I'm from Chicago. We've seen a lot of things; it's not like somebody came in and broke in. It was a party and maybe an enemy or a friend. Right now, it's happening everywhere, you have to be careful," he said.

Detectives have interviewed multiple witnesses and a suspect description is still being developed.

The victim is in critical condition.
