INDIANAPOLIS -

Indianapolis Metro Police have released the names of three robbery suspects who led officers on a two-county chase Tuesday afternoon.

Amparis Thomas, Joshua Elliott and Vangelo Jenkins all face charges of robbery and resisting law enforcement.

It started when a business robbery was reported at a GameStop store near Washington St. and German Church Rd. on the east side of Indianapolis. A Cumberland police officer noticed a silver SUV matching a description of the suspect vehicle get on I-70 eastbound at Post Road.

Police from IMPD, Cumberland and ISP tried to stop the vehicle using their lights and sirens, but the vehicle fled eastbound on the interstate. The vehicle slowed about a mile east of Post Road to let a suspect out of the vehicle.

"A passenger jumped from the vehicle. Two IMPD officers broke off, engaged the suspect, at this time, we believe the shot was fired by one of the IMPD personnel. The vehicle continued eastbound on I-70," said IMPD Officer Christopher Wilburn.

One of the officers in the foot chase was heard on police radio saying, "Do they have a solid subject yet that shot at us in custody or still looking for him?"

No one was injured in the shooting and the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect vehicle continued east on I-70, being pursued by IMPD officers. Police deployed stop sticks near the Greenfield exit and the vehicle crashed trying to avoid the sticks and rolled over. One of the occupants was ejected from the SUV and both were taken to Eskenazi Hospital to be treated for injuries.

A getaway car similar to the one used in the GameStop robbery was spotted in a tobacco store hold-up in Indianapolis about an hour before that.

"That's what our robbery detectives are en route to determine - exactly if these two incidents are connected," said Wilburn.

Also, police believe the suspects may be connected to two robberies committed on Tuesday.

All three suspects are being questioned by detectives. The driver is likely to face a preliminary charge of resisting arrest, along with other potential charges.

The investigation into the robberies and pursuit are ongoing.
