Balloon sinuplasty now available in doctor's office

Updated:

There's new hope for chronic sinus infection sufferers with a procedure that is changing the way ear, nose and throat doctors treat habitual problems.

With balloon sinuplasty, a small balloon is inflated into each sinus cavity, moving the tissue and making the sinus openings bigger.

Balloon sinuplasty has been around for a few years, but advancements in technology makes it so possible to do it in your doctor's office and avoid a hospital trip.

"This is one of the first things in a long time that has really been a game changer," said Dr. Renick Webb, ear nose and throat doctor. "The recovery is very quick and you get a really good result."

The procedure only takes about ten minutes. Doctors say 95 percent of patients will experience a permanent fix to sinus and allergy problems.

Check the database to find an ENT near you who performs the procedure.
