Fire roared through a residence at 236 Iowa Street Saturday evening as firefighters arrived on the scene.
It took fire crews about an hour to get the blaze under control. They were dispatched to the scene at 5:11 p.m. Saturday.
Indianapolis Fire Department officials say crews had to battle a tight dead-end street, snow, and bitter cold as they attacked the fire defensively because of the amount of fire and threat of collapse.
A house next to the fire sustained siding damage caused by radiant heat from the original residence fire.
Investigators estimate the fire caused about $40,000 in damage.
No injuries were reported. The fire is still under investigation.
