3-5 inches coming to Central Indiana today

Updated:

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. this afternoon to1 a.m. Sunday.

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow, which means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties.

Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.

Locally heavy snowfall and blowing snow will reduce visibilities to a half mile or less at times. Travel is likely to become hazardous this afternoon and evening.

The main impact of snowfall will be along and north of I-70.

Widespread snowfall totals of 3 to 5 inches are expected with locally higher amounts in excess of 5 inches in some areas.  Locally heavy snowfall with rates up to an inch per hour will be possible as well.
