WHITESTOWN -

A Whitestown Town Council member is facing charges after an arrest for OWI.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office says 42-year-old Dawn E. Semmler of Lebanon will appear in court Tuesday, on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Just after 1:00 a.m. Thursday, a Whitestown Police officer saw a driver violating traffic laws and initiated a traffic stop near State Road 267 and Perry Boulevard. After the officer learned the driver was a Whitestown Town board member, they requested help from the Boone County Sheriff's Office to complete the investigation.

A Boone County Sheriff's deputy performed a chemical breath test on Semmler and found she had a breath alcohol level of .11%.

Semmler was arrested and booked in the Boone County Jail. She posted bond Thursday morning.  She will appear in Boone County Superior Court II Tuesday afternoon at 2:00.
