Snow slowing morning commute

Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

Looks like the heaviest snow is falling from along i-70 north… totals will range from 4 to 5 inches with a few pockets of higher totals.  The heaviest snow will end later this morning with light snow showers for midday/afternoon.

Snow totals as of 8:15 a.m.:

Beech Grove:  5"

NWS Indianapolis:  5.5"

New Pal:  4"

Knightstown:  3.8"

Broad Ripple:  3.6"

Carmel:  3"

Lebanon:  3"

Cicero 2.75"

Kokomo:  2.5"

All of Central Indiana remains under a Winter Weather Advisory until Thursday evening.  Snow will increase across the state, and become heavy while many are sleeping tonight.

LAFAYETTE

Roads are quickly deteriorating where it's already snowing.  The picture above was taken Wednesday evening in Lafayette.

Between 2am and 8 am snow will become heavy. More than 3 inches was measured at the airport at 4:30am.  This will make for a nasty morning commute and roads will likely remain slick well into the afternoon due to blowing and drifting snow.

Most areas will see 3″ to 4″ snow totals, with 5″ possible.  It appears that areas along and north of a Lafayette-Kokomo-Munice line will the best shot at 5″.
