Fatal shooting just east of Crown Hill Cemetery

Indianapolis Police canvassed an area east of Crown Hill Cemetery, looking for witnesses to a fatal shooting Saturday afternoon. 

At approximately 4:51 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 3500 block of Graceland Avenue to check the welfare of a person.

The 9-1-1 caller indicated there had been a disturbance inside his house and shots were fired toward the backyard.

When officers arrived, they searched the area for possible shell casings.  That is when an officer found an unresponsive unidentified male suffering from at least one gunshot wound lying in the rear alley of the residence. EMS personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.

The victim has not been identified.

Detectives transported several individuals to police headquarters for questioning.

The Indianapolis-Marion Forensic Services Agency is processing the crime scene.
