NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -

Hundreds of people attended a memorial service Friday for a mother and daughter killed in their own home last week. Those inside the Grace Church in Noblesville describe it as an emotional hour and a half of remembrance for two lives cut short.

One by one, perhaps united in their heartache, pallbearers carried the bodies of Marylyn and Kelley Erb to their final resting place. Comforting one another, friends and family on Friday said their final goodbyes to the mother and daughter who were murdered inside their Westfield home one week ago.

"Very beloved family and certainly a tragic loss for everybody, for the church, and certainly for the family," said Ken Ney, who attended the funeral.

It's a loss that's especially difficult at this time of year.

"It is very sad. It is very tragic what happened before Christmas, and only the good Lord knows why all of this happened," said Anna Thamba.

Hundreds filled Grace Church in Noblesville for a celebration of life, including pictures and sharing memories of the prominent family through the years.

"Marylyn and I actually were baptized on the same weekend at church and then we were actually married two weeks apart from each other, so we know the couple for 40 years and they were just a super family," said Dennis Winslow.

While Kelley is remembered as a young woman with a bright future, Marylyn's lasting legacy is that of a caring woman with a big heart for her family.

"We both went to nursing school at different times and although she never practiced and she was a homemaker and took that knowledge into her home in raising her family and devoted her life to her family," said Lynn Winslow.

Marylyn Erb was 52. Kelley Erb was 23.
