Wayne County issues level one travel advisory

Updated:

A level one travel advisory has been issued for Wayne County roadways and streets in the city of Richmond and the town of Centerville due to heavy rainfall across the county.

The recent melting of snow has elevated streams slightly and will help increase the flood threat. Rainfall totals are expected to be in the 1.5 to 2.5 inch range with localized higher amounts possible. Flooding of low lying and poorly drained streets and highways will occur.

The travel advisory will be in effect from 9 am Saturday until 9am on Monday.

If you do not have to travel, please stay where you are during this advisory. If you must travel, use main roads whenever possible and travel at reduced speed. Expect to encounter heavy snow on area roadways.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution when driving while this advisory is in effect. Motorists should travel at a reduced speed and remain alert for roadway obstructions and changing roads conditions.

A level one travel advisory does not impose any restrictions on travel on county roadways. Motorists may travel at their own risk.
