Wayne County seeking unpaid taxes on old hospital

An eastern Indiana county is suing the owners of a closed hospital over about $350,000 in unpaid property taxes.
Wayne County Treasurer Cathy Williams says the owners of the old Reid Hospital in Richmond haven't paid property taxes since 2010.
The development group bought the 60-acre site after Reid Hospital moved in 2008 to a new $318 million complex. The building has been vacant since then, with authorities saying it's now unsafe inside because of standing water in the lower levels and crumbling materials throughout the building.
County Commissioner Mary Anne Butters tells the Palladium-Item that county officials are doing everything in their power to make the owners take responsibility and make the property productive.
