IMPD investigates fatal shooting on northwest side

Metro Police officers are investigating an apparent shooting death on the northwest side.

Police were called to the area of Harding St. and Udell St. at about 11:00 p.m. Thursday. Officers found a man shot in the front seat of a crashed car.

Police tell Eyewitness News 21-year-old Tyler Webster was pronounced dead at the scene. 

They located a second man, 19-year-old Kyle Lewis in an alley two blocks south.  That man had sustained several gunshot wounds and knocked at a woman's door for help.

She called 911 and he was taken to Eskenazi Hospital.  Lewis' is not available.

Police believe Webster and Lewis had engaged in a gun battle. They are searching for Lewis' gun as part of their investigation.

Police are questioning a passenger in the dead man's car who was not injured.

A member of the Ten Point Coalition was in the area when the shooting took place.

"This is going to take the whole city to come together," said Sheila, "to come out in community to walk streets to come up with a plan for these young people to see that life is worth more than this."
