Ex-agency thief faces Indiana forgery, theft charges

Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

The former director of a child care referral agency faces forgery and theft charges after investigators say she spent more than $6,800 in government funds for personal use.

Indiana Inspector General David Thomas said Marsha Thompson of Indianapolis was arrested Tuesday. She's the former executive director of the Indiana Association for Child Care Resource and Referral based in Indianapolis.

Thomas said Wednesday that Thompson stole funds from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration in her position with the agency. A probable cause affidavit states Thompson used a credit card issued to her agency to pay for an airplane ticket, motel room, restaurant meals, bar tabs and other personal expenses for her and her boyfriend.

Thompson doesn't have a published home telephone listing and she could be reached for comment.
