Light Snow Returns Tonight May Impact Morning Commute

Updated:

A clipper system racing across Central Indiana will deposit a quick dusting to inch of snow for many by the time you wake Monday morning.  Albeit light snow, timing is everything with this fresh powder and most of the accumulation occurs between 10pm tonight and 7am Monday.  This will impact roads for the morning commute, and you may need to add some time on your drive.

Some single digit wind chills remain this evening, though clouds and a westerly wind keep air temperatures from dropping much below the upper teens.

Steadiest snow looks to be setting up over the viewing area around 4am and departing shortly after7am.

Most places see a half-inch, but in heavier bursts an inch will be found.

Clouds and flurries remain around in the wake of the departing clipper system.  Temperatures struggle to hit the freezing mark, but a slow climb into the upper 40s/lower 50s is still on track later in the week.

Unfortunately the warm up comes with dense fog and increased rain chances.  So don't get too excited if you're not a fan of the cold.

We're already eyeing storm "potential" next weekend.  Long-range guidance suggests a juicy set up across the Ohio Valley/southern Great Lakes.  Whether we're on the cold/snowy side of an Arctic front or the warmer/mixed precip  and/or rain side is to be determined.  Please check back for updates as this could "potentially' play a big role in holiday travel plans.
