INDIANAPOLIS -

Indianapolis Metro Police have identified the person who was shot and killed on the Indianapolis east side Sunday.

The victim was identified as 21-year-old Dajon Parson. Another person was wounded in the incident.

It began just off 21st and Mitthoefer in the Lake view Terrace apartments.

"She heard two shots, then pop pop pop pop," says a resident.

Police say one man fell dead on the steps outside the apartment building.

The second victim ended up in a car about two blocks away in front of a convenience store. He had a serious gunshot wound to the chest.

"Right now we don't believe this is a random act. We believe the individuals either knew each other or had some type of acquaintance," said Sgt. Kendale Adams.

Police are still looking for a motive. They found narcotics in one victim's car.

After many acts of violence, neighbors will tell you this isn't supposed to happen in their neighborhood or this kind of shocking event is unusual.

Sunday neighbors told Eyewitness News something else.

"To me it's, wherever I go now and it's sad to say but it's just what it is. Only thing you can do is keep people in prayer and happy," said Duane Eaton.

Another neighbor told us, "They say it was a drug deal gone bad, I don't know. It's too close to Christmas. It's got to stop."

Duane Eaton had tears across his cheeks today. "Actually tears from the cold right now but right here it hurts it really does. It's kind of sensitive. It's a real sensitive subject."

This is still an active investigation and detectives request that anyone with information regarding his murder to please call the IMPD Homicide office at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
