Police warn of scam funds connected to teen's death

Police in Noblesville are warning citizens about scams surrounding the death of a 16-year-old high school student.

Police say they have received several questions about fundraising efforts allegedly set up in the name of Aubrey Peters. The Noblesville High School student was accidentally shot and killed at a home in Noblesville December 8.

Peters' family tell police the only fund that has been authorized and endorsed by her family is the Aubrey Peters Memorial Art Scholarship fund, which is administered by the Noblesville School Corporation.

Information about the fund can be obtained from the school corporation through Sharon Trisler at (317) 773-3171 or by mailing a donation with "for Aubrey Peters" in the memo line of a check mailed to:
