Indiana Legionnaires and Navy and Marine Corps Reservists mark Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Updated:

Indiana Legionnaires from across the state met Saturday at the US Navy-Marine Corps Reserve Center on 30th street in Indianapolis to mark the 72nd anniversary of the bombing of the military bases on the island of Oahu and the start of America's involvement in World War Two.

The hour long ceremony included patriotic songs sung by the assembled group and a replaying of President Franklin D. Roosevelt speech to Congress letting the world know of the attack.

The event was capped by the laying of a wreath by The Indiana Department of The American Legion Commander Ed Trice, Pearl Harbor Survivor and Indianapolis resident William H. Harvey at noon.
