INDIANAPOLIS -

A SWAT situation has ended peacefully on the northwest side of Indianapolis.

Just after 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Metro Police responded to a domestic call with shots fired in 5000 block of Clarkson in the Arbor Village neighborhood.  When officers arrived, they saw a man standing in the doorway, holding a long gun. He did not aim the weapon at officers, but did shout a comment, turned and went into the residence.

SWAT officers surrounded the house and negotiators tried to contact the man inside.  When they were unsuccessful, SWAT shot chemical grenades into the house, and the man came out and surrendered at approximately 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

Police have not identified the man, and it's unknown at this point what charges he may face.  Police investigators are still gathering evidence at the scene.

Check back for updates.
