Metro police investigate three Monday night shootings in Indianapolis


Police are investigating two more shootings in Indianapolis Monday night, hours after a fatal shooting on the east side.

The reports came into police just minutes apart shortly before 10:30 p.m. Monday. The first occurred in the 3500 block of West Murray Street. Police later said that gunshot appeared to be self-inflicted.

The second report came in as a car accident in the 3500 block of Baltimore Avenue. Police near the scene heard gunshots, then got a 911 call about a person being shot in a car as they searched for the source of the gunfire. The male victim was shot in his car on 36th Street at Keystone Avenue, then continued down 36th Street before striking a barrier.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has not yet been identified. 

A person was fatally shot on Commodore Drive on the east side of Indianapolis around 8 p.m. Monday.
