WTHR earns huge year-to-year ratings growth during November sweeps

While others decline, 13 Eyewitness News Sunrise scores highest ratings in four years

From 5-6pm 13 Eyewitness News garners highest ratings in five years

13 Eyewitness News Nightbeat is the only late newscast to increase its share of viewers

INDIANAPOLIS, December 2—WTHR (Channel 13) announced today that according to preliminary household overnight ratings released by Nielsen Media Research for the November 2013 sweeps period, 13 Eyewitness News posted year-to-year viewership gains throughout its morning and evening newscasts while dominating the competition as a solid number one at 4:30am-6am, 6-7am, 5pm, 5:30pm, 6pm and 11pm.*  

Here are some sweeps highlights:

Eyewitness News Sunrise: From 5-6am the morning newscast delivered its best performance since March of 2009 with a 37% year-to-year ratings increase. With a 4.1 rating, it nearly doubles its closest competitor WXIN's 2.3.

In addition, while all other local news stations experienced ratings declines from 6-7am, Sunrise was up 16% year-to-year to a 7.3 rating, more than doubling the viewership of the number two station and increasing its lead from 80% to 128% year-to-year.

13 Eyewitness News 5-6pm: With a 9.6 rating, the weekday newscast earned its highest ratings in five years, while experiencing the largest year-to-year growth (8%), as the number two and number three newscasts showed declines. Its nearest competitor in the time period, WISH managed a 3.5 rating, while WRTV posted a 3.2 rating, followed by WXIN with a 3.1 rating.

13 Eyewitness News 6pm: The weekday 6pm newscast continues to dominate, turning in its highest performance in five years with an 11.1 rating, and beating the combined ratings of all three of the other local newscasts.

13 Eyewitness News Nightbeat: In Monday through Friday late news, Eyewitness News Nightbeat was the only newscast to increase its year-to-year share of the total viewing audience. In doing so, Nightbeat increased its share of the late news audience at 11pm to 45% in November, up from 43% a year ago. Nightbeat scored a 7.2 rating, compared to WISH with a 5.6 rating, followed by WRTV's 3.1 rating.
