Central Indiana wolf center expands with new enclosure

BATTLE GROUND, Ind. -

A wolf research center in central Indiana has opened a new 1.5-acre enclosure as it expects a new litter of pups in the spring.

Employees and supporters of Wolf Park opened the new enclosure on Thursday for the center near the Tippecanoe town of Battle Ground. The Journal & Courier reports the new enclosure will soon be home to a new pack, which will allow researchers to study how different packs interact.

The park founded in the 1970s near Lafayette now has 10 wolves in its 6.5-acre enclosure.
Park manager Dana Drenzek says researchers follow the behavior of the wolves and how they solve problems.
