Charities need help this holiday season

INDIANAPOLIS -

Local charity agencies are hoping you'll dig a little deeper to meet their growing needs this holiday season.

A campaign underway at Kroger allows people to donate to while doing their regular grocery shopping.

Kroger has launched their 'Share Your Feast' campaign to provide food to local families in need. Kroger is not alone in seeking your help during this time of the season. Many agencies from the Mozel Sanders Foundation, Gleaners Food Bank, United Way, Goodwill and plenty of local churches are all helping those in need.

The Salvation Army kicked off its red kettle campaign yesterday. It hopes to raise $3.2 million this holiday season, which would make up a third of its budget for the entire year. The agency says it is serving more meals this year, and seeing more people needing assistance.

The Salvation Army also reports it's not seeing the level of giving to meet its needs, but officials say they are feeling optimistic.

WTHR is proud to partner with Kroger stores for 'Share Your Feast' campaign.

Customers can purchase pre-bagged food in increments of three, five, or ten dollars or make cash donations. You can do all of this while you check out.
