Firefighters are calling a blaze at a Crawfordsville hotel suspicious.

The fire broke out around 7 a.m. Thursday on the third floor of the Candlewood Suites on Industrial Boulevard. The building was evacuated and firefighters worked to put out hot spots for more than two hours.

Much of the damage, which was estimated at $300,000 was contained to a few rooms on the third floor and the attic of the structure. There was also smoke damage to the second floor of the hotel, which was closed for business.

It is not known how long the hotel will remain closed.
