Attorneys for Gibson County murder suspect want off case

PRINCETON -

Both attorneys for a southwestern Indiana man charged with fatally shooting his estranged girlfriend in front of her 13-year-old son have asked a judge to allow them to withdraw from the case.

Defense attorney Michael Cochren wants off the case because defendant Jason S. Perry filed a letter with the court alleging his court-appointed attorneys have a conflict of interest.

The Princeton Daily Clarion reports co-counsel Lisa Moody has also filed a petition to withdraw from the case.

A judge will hear both attorneys' requests at a Nov. 27 Gibson Superior Court hearing.

Authorities say Perry fatally shot 34-year-old Jessica Tice in May as she and her son left a Princeton restaurant where they had celebrated his eighth-grade graduation in the city about 25 miles north of Evansville.
